Signaling fails

Check that the signaling URL points to the WebSocket service, not the REST API. Use ws://localhost:8081/v1/connect for the local deployment.

A browser origin must be allowed by signaling. Changing your app's port changes its origin. Check the signaling logs for rejected origins, invalid tokens or missing room permissions.

Participants appear but media does not

Room membership and media transport are separate. Inspect:

1. Whether the publisher has a local track and the required token permission.
2. The remote track’s subscriptionState and useMediaTrack error.
3. ICE candidate connectivity and the announced media address.
4. Whether the media and TURN services are reachable by the browser.

For a local Docker deployment, a container-only address may be unreachable from the browser. A stale LAN address after restarting the host can break connectivity even while REST room creation works.

Autoplay is blocked

useMediaTrack returns state: 'blocked'. Render a play button and call media.play() from that click. Do not treat an attached stream as proof that audio is playing.

Camera remains frozen after camera-off

Use camera.disable() for camera-off. Local mute currently does not notify a remote publication pause. Show a placeholder when the participant has no camera track.

Screen audio is missing

Display audio support depends on browser, operating system and selected screen/tab. Check screen.audioTrack before assuming it was captured. Render remote screen_audio separately from microphone audio.

Media takes several seconds to appear

Capture, negotiation, subscription and a decodable video frame all happen before rendering. Use SDK loaders and measure each stage when a consistent startup delay needs investigation.

Recovery fails

Look at RoomError.code and the connection state. Expired tokens, ended rooms, removed participants and lost media runtime cannot always be recovered automatically.

If a new token has a different participant identity, leave and rejoin. It cannot renew the active session.
